Children's Safety Village

Today we visited the Safety Village for kids.  The class is led by two firemen and they go over how to handle situations they run in to like fire, water and bike.  Wes sat through the whole 1 hour long class and did a great job listening.
When the class is over the kids get to go outside to a kid -sized town, with a fire station, police station, bank, street lights and much more.

Listening to the fireman talk about gun safety.

They also had bikes for the kids to ride around the town.

This will be something that we have to do every year.

Weekend with family

For the past 8 or so months Mark and I have heard about Madi; Wesley's cousin, coming to his house and what he planned for them to do.  They finally made it on Thursday afternoon and they were so excited to see each other.  After dinner we walked down to the pond and let the kids fish.  They were more interested in reeling in their line than waiting for the fish to bite.

On Friday we woke up and headed to the zoo bright and early before it got too hot.  The kids had a great time getting pulled in the wagon and climbing on the brazed statues.

After we looked at all the animals the zoo has a petting zoo and a stream that the kids can play in.
When they woke up from their nap we headed to the pool to play before dinner, then came home and Lolli taught the kids how to make homemade lemonade.
While we prepared dinner Pops entrained the kids; roughhousing.  They loved it.

That Friday night after dinner we made smores in the backyard.

On Saturday we got up and headed down to Brick town. We rode on the boat that takes us around the canal.  It was very hot that morning so we got off the boat early.

That Saturday night we headed to Madison's and Wesley's Uncle Chad and Christy's house for dinner.  Mark and Cody taught the kids how to shoot Wesley's new bow and arrow.

We had a fun filled weekend and Wesley can't wait for everyone to come back soon.

July 4th Celebrations

Our neighborhood does a great job at celebrating the 4th of July.  The night before the 4th we had a band by the pond and then fireworks after.  We went over to our friends house for a get together and had a great time watching the fireworks and watching the kids dance and play.

The morning after the fireworks Mark and I ran in our neighborhood 5k while pushing Wesley in the stroller.  This was Mark's first time to run in a 5k and my 3rd race.
The next activity the neighborhood had planned is a parade.  The kids can decorate their bikes or wagons and then ride it to the baseball field where we meet up and play games.

Before the games start the kids gather along the fence and say the pledge.  Wesley wanted to go stand with all the kids and when they started reciting the pledge he looked up at them like they were crazy.
Some of the races Wesley participated in were the sac race, tug-o-war, ballon toss and sponge pass.  He had a great time playing these games and can't wait til next year.

This is one of Wesleys favorite parts of the celebrations; lawn mower races.  We joined our neighbors and the boys had a great time.

A new activity that our neighborhood started this year is a belly flop contest.  This was really fun to watch.  Wesley got to have his first snow cone for the summer and didn't let one piece go uneaten.  Can't wait to see what happens next year.

Petsmart Tour

Our MOMS club went to Petsmart and had a tour that the kids loved. The guide was excellent with being patient with all the kids.  They learned about fish, frogs, lizards, birds, rats, turtles and many more animals.

Wesley checking out the guinea pigs.
Petting the guinea pigs
The favorite part of the tour..... cats.  He loves to go to to Petsmart when we run out of food for Max.  Today he got to go in the glass area and get out the kittens to play with and pet.
This will be a tour that we have to do again.  What a fun day.
