20 months

Oh where do we start?? It seems like Wesley has learned so much this month. I will only list just a few. It has been so hot outside that if we mainly play inside or go outside early in the morning. This month we have really started to tackle brushing Wesley's teeth. I have heard that this is a struggle with many moms in our playgroup so we were stressing it. After bath Wesley gets dried off then he gets to brush his teeth. After he brushes then Mommy or Daddy brushes his teeth. We have found that if we talk about his favorite show Handy Manny he will lay there and listen while we brush. He has cried a few times after we finish because he wants you to keep brushing, too cute.

Here are a few things he has learned?enjoys to do this month:
*During bath time Mark taught Wesley how to bump knuckles.
*One of Wesley's new talents is to tell people where to sit. As soon as Mark walks in from work each night Wesley has his chair pulled out and is instructing him to sit sit.
* While we were at the lake Wesley discovered that the ice chests were filled with ice. He would dig through them all day and eat ice. Now he requests it at home to take outside and eat.
* He is just starting to climbing more.
* We are working on putting his clothes on so he is a really big help with putting on his shorts.
* Since we can't go outside for long periods of time we had to get creative with his toys inside. One day we put all of Wesley's stuffed animals at the end of his slide and he loves to slide down into them.

CAR POOLING

One day I walked in to find Wesley vacuuming with his sunglasses on.

Lake Possum Kingdom

We took our first long road trip to Lake Possum Kingdom in August for Katie's dad's 50th birthday. Katie's parents, Chad, Christy and Cody joined us at the lake.

The car is packed and we are ready to go. This was Wesley's first long car trip so we didn't know what to expect. Wesley did great for about the first 45 minutes, then Katie sat next to him and pulled out some of his favorite toys.

Wesley eventually feel asleep and slept for about 45 minutes.
We knew it would be difficult to get Wesley to wear his life jacket so we tried to have him wear it a few weeks before we left, and he refused. When we got to the lake house Katie's dad had the boat all ready to take Wes for his first boat ride. We thought oh dear this is going to be a struggle to get his life jacket on, he put it right on and away we went.
This summer Wesley hasn't enjoyed swimming in the pool, he would rather stand and play in the water. He refused to get in his floaty so we played at the boat dock the majority of the time.
After lunch one day we gave Wesley his first Oreo cookie and he loved it!
On the last day at the lake we pulled out the boche set and enjoyed a little family competition.
On Saturday we decorated the house for Katie's dads 50th birthday.
Happy 50th Dad. Hope you enjoyed your birthday.
We took popsicles for Wesley to enjoy while at the lake. He is still talking about it to this day. He will not get to have any more until next summer, we will see if he likes them then. On Friday night the lake showed a movie, well it happened to be right outside our house. After getting Wesley down we sat out on the back porch and enjoyed Ice Age 2.

On the last day Chad and Christy went on a canoe ride before the sun went down and came back and engaged couple!!! Congratulations Chad and Christy.

Under construction

Mark has been thinking about building a building for his tools and lawn mower to go in, maybe even to just get out of the house every once in a while. We finally started to take out the sod and put rocks down for a base. It has been extremely hot, temps have been at least 107 or above for about 3 or 4 weeks now so we are only able to work until around noon on the weekend. This is going to take a long time to finish but it will be well worth it. Keep watching for updates.

We rented a sod machine for the day. Thank goodness we did rent the machine or we would not have been able to complete it as soon as we did. It was very hard to control.
Raking out the dirt along with help from our little helper.
Mark and Wes rolling the sod after cutting it out.

19 months

Wes turned 19 months on July 22nd. He loves to put on our shoes/flipflops that are laying around and walk around the house in them. Wes really likes playing on his blanket. Mark will lay it out on the floor as Wesley is saying "back, back, back". When Wesley lays in the middle of it Mark rolls him up in it and he giggles with excitement.
A few weeks back Katie bought Wes a bowling set so he could play inside where is wasn't so hot. She set up all the pins and had his roll the ball, needless to say it went right back in the closet. He cried when all the pins fell down.
Wesley still loves to visit the park, his favorite park is still swinging. He could swing for HOURS if you let him.

Enjoying a popsicle with Daddy. Anytime you say the word outside Wesley automatically says popsicle.
Wesley got these adorable overalls in the mail from his Grammie.

Visiting Lolli and Pop

Wesley and Katie went to visit her parents in Midland for 6 days. They were able to visit with family and see a few friends. Since Wesley's grandpa, Pops was in Oklahoma for work he flew back to Midland with them. It was a nice break for Katie because Wesley had someone different to play with.
When we got to their house Wesley had a new toy waiting for him, his first golf set. He loved to push the bag around and sometimes wanted to hit the golf balls.
Wesley was able to spend time with his cousin, Madison. They played outside in the pool and with the water hose. They found a frog hopping around outside and Pops put it in the pool to swim with them. Madison loved to watch it swim in the pool but Wesley was more interested in playing with the water pale.
Katie's parents have a cat named Spook. Wesley LOVES the cat. He will chase him around everywhere and meow at him. He even read a book to him while Spook ate breakfast one morning.
Madison and Wesley on the ranger
Pops wanted Wesley to ride on the Ranger with him. After a few days of being there, Wesley finally rode with him. Everyone was shocked. Katie made her brother go inside and get the camera so Wes wouldn't see her get up and want to get off the ranger.

Wes drove several different vehicles while visiting and we talk about them all the time.

While in Midland Madison and Wesley played at the Midland Children's Museum. They loved playing in the grocery store, Burger King and the Lego room.

The Children's Museum had a toddlers room where they could play on mats and crawl through tunnels. Wesley loved driving the boat.
