First Camping Trip

Mark celebrated his 29th birthday on Thursday, June 14th.  We decided to go camping before it got to hot for the summer and headed to Chickasaw Recreational Area in Sulphur, OK.  We left mid morning on Thursday an arrived at lunch.  It was already pretty hot when we arrived.  We ate lunch then sat up camp.  Wes could hardly wait to get to the stream beside our camp and play. The water was pretty clear and you could see the fish swimming.

Once Wesley woke up from his nap we drove around the camp ground and found a few natural springs so we got out to explore.

Wesley found a few stepping stones through the springs and loved to jump from one to another.

One our way back we found three deer having a snack.
We had a great time fishing in the stream.  You could put your worm on top of the water and the perch would immediately take it under.
Mark and Wesley starting our camp fire for dinner and smores'.
Wesley found a huge spider web and thought he needed to take a picture with his camera so he could remember it.
Throughout the day Wesley would ask us if it was time to roast marshmallows yet.  He was so excited when it finally was time.
Playing by the waterfalls after dinner.

When we got up on Friday we headed out for a hike before we left.  The grass was very tall, so we carried Wesley the majority of the way.

Mini Vacation

Over Memorial Day weekend Mark and I headed to Cancun for a few days. My parents came to Oklahoma to watch Wesley. Wesley had a whole weeks worth of things to do with his grandparents and only had 3 days to do them.  I think they had a great time together as did Mark and I.
We stayed at an all inclusive hotel that had several pools, lazy river, private beach and hammocks over the pool.

On Saturday afternoon we headed out to go deep sea fishing.  The water was so rough because of the storms coming in.  After an hour we finally hooked a fish.

Mark realed in this sailfish after 15 minutes or so.

May happenings

May has been a very busy month for us. We started building an outdoor kitchen to house Mark's new grill and Big Green Egg.  Mark planned out this kitchen for weeks and was ready to get started.  Wesley enjoyed helping Mark rearrange the wood and building a "dog house" for Max.

He decided that he needed to roll the backyard for Mark while he was working on his kitchen.
Mark got it framed and ready to add plywood all in one day.
Wesley loves rocks and loves to paint. So I thought he would really enjoy painting rocks.  He had a great time.

Every year in May the Edmond MOMS club puts on Touch a Truck.  They have several different trucks that the kids can climb on and honk their horns; all of the proceeds go to the Oklahoma food bank.  Wesley enjoyed climbing in the trucks, but didn't like the loud horns.

One night after dinner we decided it was time to take Wesley fishing at our neighborhood pond.  He enjoyed holding his pole for about 2 minutes then wanted to find rocks and sticks to throw in the pond.  Once a fish was hooked on his pole he would real it in.

We had fun catching small perch.
