Oklahoma State Fair

In September we took Wesley to the Oklahoma State Fair. He liked looking at the cows, sheep and chicks. We bought tickets to see Toy Story on Ice, not knowing what he would think about it. He loved watching it and surprisingly sat still through the majority of it.

1st day of Wesley's Mothers Day out

Wesley started Mother's Day out at our church last week. He enjoys going so much and loves the music class. He goes every Tuesday and Thursday from 9:30 to 2:30. His favorite phrase is " Momma say with me", apparently his teachers say this a lot. He will learn a different shape and color every month.

Summer Randomness

This summer has been extremely hot so we have done several things inside or have played outside early in the morning. Mark's parents came and stayed with us for the night on the way back to their house. They brought Mark a piggy bank that was his Grandpa's. Wesley had a great time taking all the money out and handing it to everyone.

Wesley got this pirate dress up outfit for Christmas and he loves to dress up like a pirate and run around the house saying "argh".
Wes had a few friends over one morning and made homemade bubbles.

Wesley loves buckets. Anytime you go outside he wants to fill up his buckets over and over. He helps you water the plants and trees and always wants to give Max water.
Katie made a curtain for Wesley's playroom and Wesley thought he needed to double check her measurements. He was a great helper.
Wesley loves ice cream so one afternoon he woke up from his nap and we headed to Baskin Robbins.
We are working on potty training with Wesley. He is doing a great job so far. One morning he woke up and I asked him if he wanted to wear his big boy Cars underwear and he said yes. He is doing a great job at going any time we ask him to. He refuses to use the big potty and wants to use his "froggy"potty.
We had a severe storm blow through one night with winds up to 70 mph and a few inches of rain, there was a constant lighting the whole time. We ended up losing power for a little over 12 hours. We plugged in our generator to hook up a lamp, fan and refrigerator. It was over 100 degrees that day but didn't seem like it.

Neighborhood 4th of July celebrations

Our neighborhood does a fantastic job with celebrating the 4th of July. We have a parade, games, fireworks, dinner and of course a lawn mower race. Since we were at the lake and didn't get back until Monday we missed everything except the lawn mower race. We enjoyed watching the men race last year; some of the men really get into it.

This year the races were taking place in front of our house. It was an extremely hot summer day; 104 with no wind, so Wesley and his friend Erin cooled down with a yummy popsicle. Wesley liked to watch the guys race by and would clap as they passed.
They have two different races; lawn mowers that are not modified and then modified. There were several lawn mowers that raced in the not modified race and then there were 3 in the modified. The sheriffs blocked off the road and clocked them as they passed; 35 mph. I told Mark he wasn't allowed to ever race lawn mowers at 35 mph.

We have tons of frogs in our yard and flowerbeds that Wesley likes to catch. He decided that after the races he wanted to put them in his pool and have them swim with him.

July 4th weekend

We headed to Lake Texoma to celebrate our July 4th weekend. On Friday afternoon we meet Katie's parents, her brother and his daughter, and her older brother and fiance. Wesley has talked about driving Pop's boat for weeks now and was very excited to finally get to do it. We got up on Saturday morning, had breakfast then headed to the lake.

Wesley enjoyed filling up his Pop's minnow bucket with sand and water. His cousin Madison even helped him.
We were not sure if Wesley would get in the water so we started him out throwing rocks in the lake. After he was use to the water splashing on his feet we moved further in. He enjoyed jumping in the water and jumping thru the waves.

On Sunday morning we got up and headed to the lake (yes at 7 am) so everyone could fish before it got to hot. Wesley went with Mark, Pops and Christy to fish; he helped drive the boat. Kay, Chad and Katie stayed on the dock to Perch fish. We had a great time and caught many perch and even a few turtles.
After Mark and Wesley got back from their fishing trip they fished, but Wesley didn't want to do that so we headed back to the house.
Madison brought along a LeapFrog computer and it had a song that counted from 1 to 20; Wesley loved that song so he played it over and over. The kids enjoyed running around dancing and holding hands every night.
They even enjoyed rolling around.

First day of Mother's Day Out

On June 30th Wesley went to his first day of Mother's Day out. We talked about it for several weeks prior to him going. Mark stayed home that morning to have breakfast with us then left for work shortly after. We were not sure how he would react when I dropped him off but knew that he would get upset because we were leaving him. I began to put his bag on his hook and put his lunchbox down, then he lost it. He didn't want me to leave his lunchbox outside the classroom. I left him crying for his lunchbox and not me. The directory called me at lunch to tell me that he cried off and on the whole morning but was running around the room playing after lunch. He actually napped which we were surprised. When I picked him up for school the teacher told me that he wanted his lunchbox after lunch so they gave it to him and he laid down on his nap mat with his lunchbox and took a nap. He is very attached to his lunchbox. He will go on Thursday's during the month of July and then starting in September he will go on Tuesday's and Thursday's.

The week of Wesley's first day of "school" we practiced eating out of his lunchbox. He really thinks this is fun.

Two and Half Years Old!!

WOW 2 1/2 already?? Over the past few months Wesley has started talking more and more. Sometimes Mark and myself will look at each other and say he has been talking no stop for the past hour. We love this because he can communicate so much better with us.

Wesley still loves to swing and wants you to push him, higher and higher each time.

*He knows every letter in the alphabet and can count to 11. He also knows a few shapes: circle, triangle, octagon, square and rectangle.

*Wesley loves to help Mark mow the grass on the riding lawn mower.

*He still loves to play outside no matter how hot it is outside.

*Wesley enjoys reading his favorite books over and over and over again.

*He also is becoming a better colorer. He use to color all over the page but now he finds a picture and colors it.
Wesley also loves to have picnics outside. We would have them more often if it wasn't over 100 degrees outside every night.

In the month of June Max and Mark had a birthday, so Wesley has been singing Happy Birthday since then. He thinks it is so fun. This is the first song that Wesley has ever sung before.

Wesley still loves to paint he finally let me paint his hand to make a hand print. I have tried several times over the past months to do this and am so glad that he will do it now. He loves to paint his arms and hands.

In June Wesley had a friend over and he started dancing and being silly, he ended up hurting his foot. Katie heard a pop and he immediately started crying. So she picked him up and moved it around it seemed to be okay, but he wouldn't walk on it at all. They next day he continued to not walk on it so we took him to the dr. They tried to get an x ray but he wouldn't stay still for that long. We decided to watch him over the weekend to see if he would walk on it before we tried x ray's again. He refused to walk on his foot and chose to scoot everywhere. He couldn't ride on the lawn mower or four wheeler with Mark and he was fine with that. On Monday Katie called dr and she wanted to get an x ray so we took him to the hospital and then meet with the pediatrician that afternoon. He didn't have a break or fracture so she wanted to get a body scan to see what it could be. Katie told him that he was going to have to go to the dr and get a shot; blood work for the body scan; and asked him if he wanted to try to walk. He decided that he would try. He walked off and on for the next few days with a limp and decided that his foot was o tay. We are so glad he is walking again and there was nothing wrong but a sprang.

We can't wait to see what he does over the next 6 months.
